It’s all action and movement when John Colantuono creates a painting. Whether John is adding broad swaths of color or delicate lines he is moving around the canvas, viewing the many angles for the next step. New work will include vivid fire paintings and abstracts. A member of the ARTmostNY Open Studios John will be raffling three paintings he painted collaboratively with guests who attended the May open studios and will donate proceeds to a local charity.
Inspired by nature in the Hudson Valley, and her travels, Jeanette Rodriguez’s work is bright and vividly colored. She has taught Alcohol Ink painting and jewelry workshops in New York, Arizona and on the Big Island of Hawaii. Rodriguez is the founder of “Soul Painting”, which she teaches in various locations throughout the Hudson Valley region. Jeanette’s vibrant alcohol ink on yupo paper paintings will be on display. To quote Jeanette, “Painting with alcohol inks on yupo paper, I fell in love. Not only because of the intensity of the colors but the endless ways I can create”.
David Morrison works in wood, glass, and painting. As an artist, Dave creates, or rather paints, his glass pieces creating spare and beautiful designs. Moving from Westchester to Dutchess opened up new possibilities for Dave when he became a member of ArtEast and collaborated with the supportive group of artists in the Hudson Valley. Recently, Dave was commissioned to create a painting that went to Mexico and another to Ireland. Dave will be showing new glass pieces and paintings for this show.
Vinny Johnston was a prolific painter. The initial organizer of this show Vinny, sadly, recently, passed away. He is missed. A painter, Vinny enjoyed the freedom of abstract work. Vinny built a round elevated platform in his yard from which he could view his work (that was on the ground) and freely add colors and details. Combining his paintings with photographs of flowers brought together two of his loves, painting, and nature.
The art of Pamela Hallisey (AKA Aries) combines pyrography and watercolors, two mediums that allow her to create works of she refers to as Fire and Water. Aries bring her love of local wildlife and the outdoors to her current series Birds of Prey and Backyard Birds – Fire and Water paintings of the birds found in the Hudson Valley. Her technique combining the two elements’ results in a finished work that has a look similar to stained glass.
